Municipal Waste |
|
Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) includes predominantly household waste (domestic waste) with sometimes the addition of waste generated from non-industrial commercial sources. MSW may typically comprise food scraps, packaging materials, paper, clothing, appliances, bottles, cans and batteries. Rapid urbanisation and the accompanying growth of industry in many countries, creates problems including:
C6 Energy has developed systems for processing MSW which in the first stage optimises recycling outcomes and the recovery of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, plastics and glass. The residual biomass is then processed via thermal conversion to form syngas which is suitable for use in gas powered turbines for electricity generation, or for reformation to methanol which can then be blended with vegetable oil to form biodiesel. Typically C6 Energy will develop, own and operate the facilities. A special purpose company would be incorporated, with a profit share being provided back to the government authority or municipality.
